Nolens Volens 2. Interacciones electorales. El presente número de Nolens Volens pretende explorar las relaciones entre arte y procesos electorales. El hilo conductor se basa en un proyecto de investigación Artes de acción y convocatorias electorales desarrollado en la Universidad Europea de Madrid dirigido por Joaquín Ivars, y en la muestra InterAcciones Electorales, que tuvo lugar en el espacio madrileño Off Limits, que incluyó material histórico como acciones y propuestas especialmente desarrolladas durante la campaña electoral del 9 de mayo de 2008.

Nolens Volens 2. Election interactions This issue of Nolens Volens intends to explore the relationship between art and the electoral processes. It is structured on the basis of an investigation project called Action arts and election mechanisms and campaigns,directed by Joaquín Ivars and carried out at the Universidad Europea in Madrid, and the exhibition InterAcciones Electorales, which took place at the Madrid exhibition venue Off Limits, and included historical material, as well as the specific actions and artistic projects carried out during the campaign for the elections of May 9, 2008.

Nolens Volens 1. Actualidad. El argumento que articula este primer número es “la actualidad”, como material de trabajo en el arte, y más concretamente la “actualidad informativa”. La elección de este asunto, como elemento de definición de este primer número, esta motivado por el papel central que este recurso, ofrecido por la actualidad mediática, ostenta en una parte importante de la producción de arte contemporáneo y por cierta predisposición crítica a cuestionar la eficacia de los discursos desarrollados a partir de este concepto.

Nolens Volens 1. Current events. The subject articulates this first issue is “contemporary issues” and, more specifically, “current events”, as work material in art. The choice of this matter as the defining element of the first issue is motivated by the central role played by this resource, offered by the media’s coverage of current events, in the production of contemporary art and by a certain critical predisposition to question the effectiveness of the discourses developed on the basis of this concept.
